Pastor Stephen Louis Murphy is an awesome young dynamic man who is true to his Faith and belief in the Almighty God and our wonderful Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
At the age of five years old, he accepted Jesus Christ, received Salvation and was baptized as a member of St. Phillips Missionary Baptist Church by the late Pastor Theron Hodges Sr. Growing up at St. Phillips, under the leadership of Pastor Alvin D. Hodges Sr., Stephen served as an Associate Minister, Sound Tech, Musician and Youth Leader.
In 2009, Pastor Murphy graduated from Lamphere High School in Madison Heights Michigan. He was an AAU Track & Field All-American holding numerous records, specifically the MHSAA Division II state record in the 400 meter dash (47.9 sec.) that still stands today.
Pastor Murphy accepted his calling into Gospel ministry in December of 2009 and preached his initial sermon on the evening of October 31, 2010 at the age of 19. He was also licensed the same evening by Pastor Alvin D. Hodges Sr., and the St. Phillips Missionary Baptist Church in Detroit. From then and even now, God continues to reveal and show Himself strong in his life and ministry.

Pastor Murphy is a proud member of Trinity Missionary Baptist Church in Pontiac Michigan, under the leadership of his spiritual father and Pastor Rev. Dr. John D. Tolbert.
On Sunday September 22nd, 2019 he was unanimously elected as Pastor of Oak Park MBC in Ferndale, MI. While at Oak Park, he was able to transition and lead through effective ministry in a global pandemic. He served Oak Park until June of 2022. On June 21st, 2022, Pastor Murphy accepted the call to Metropolitan Baptist Tabernacle in Flint, Michigan as their 7th and youngest Pastor in her 85 year history. In September of 2022 he was appointed Executive Director of The Metropolitan Housing Development Corporation.
Also in November of 2022, Pastor Murphy was installed as Co-Director of The Youth & Young Adult Auxiliary for The Wolverine Baptist State Convention of Michigan. Currently he is enrolled at The College of Biblical Studies in Houston, Texas, to finish his Bachelor Degree in Organizational Leadership.
He was born on April 3,1991 and is married to “his good thing” the former Miss Sharonne Pettus. They are the proud parents of four children.
